Weekly recipe roundup 18
It is time for the weekly recipe roundup 18! As expected, recipe output has been non-existant this week. We had been planning on heading up to Derbyshire my grandmother’s 90th birthday. but the weather put a damper on that. Instead, we had the celebrations down in Wiltshire. I did manage to get quite a bit of baking done this week though! It has been Real Bread Week all week, so I am using it as an opportunity to bake a bit more bread than usual.
I made this pizza at the beginning of the week. It had the normal basic toppings, along with sweet peppers, prosciutto, egg and basil. Pizza has always been a favourite of mine, but these homemade ones are verging on guilt free. This is because I can control exactly what goes into them and how much.
I had to revive my sourdough starter as I had been bad and not made any in a while. I had to double check my instructions as I had last made some! Making sourdough isn’t particularly complicated, yet it is not something you can rush. I leave mine in the fridge over night after putting it into the mould. Then I extract it from the fridge and leave it for about an hour and a half in the kitchen before baking. This is on top of the actual time spent making the dough and all of the upkeep of the starter! The result is worth it, it is just a shame it never lasts long enough!
I made this at the last minute, I certainly hadn’t planned on making any. It is a delicious bread and very easy! Unfortunately, I took a chunk out of it before I could take a proper picture! I posted the image of it straight out of the oven over on my Twitter feed, here.
Lemon drizzle loaf
I made this on the spur of the moment when I spied a couple of lemons knocking about. Lemon flavoured desserts and cakes rank in my top five of weaknesses, so it was almost inevitable! I posted it on Instagram here and over on Twitter, here. I admit that the Twitter picture does not look like the Twitter picture that I had on my phone – very strange indeed. Anyway, it was suitably lemony and I sent my brother’s back home with some slices.
Social media network linking
I also made a post about social media. This post was part of the requirements for becoming a publisher over on Yummly. It was a general post on sharing my recipes to various social media sites and using the hashtag #BaTarts. This is an effort to slowly start increasing my viewership numbers in general.
That draws a close to the weekly recipe roundup 18! Unfortunately, not actually any recipes last week – it was a bit of a busy one!
