Weekly recipe roundup 16
The weekly recipe roundup 16 has appeared and brought with it pancakes and a chocolate tart! It has been somewhat of a busy week for me and slightly frustrating at times. I certainly hadn’t been planning on baking a Bakewell tart; however I can not turn it down when the opportunity arises!
On Tuesday it was Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day. I can’t let a chance like that slip by, so I made some pancakes. You will find the recipe for it over here. I like the pancakes topped with lemon and sugar. You can have it with other toppings like Nutella, ice cream, jam, fresh fruit or syrups. I don’t make pancakes often, in the past it has almost been once a year at this sort of time! I will change that have them a bit more, both savoury and sweet versions.
I had a bit of spare time and threw together a pizza for lunch. Unfortunately, it was pouring with rain and I didn’t fancy getting soaked, so it was a cheeseless pizza. I used: tomato sauce, jalapenos, sweet peppers, capers, caramelised onions and bacon. It didn’t look quite how I had hoped, but I was starving and not ultimately fussy. Homemade pizza is almost becoming a twice a month affair for me; as long as I can choose the ingredients, I can live with that!
My original case for the chocolate tart wasn’t quite correct. The recipe that I had found was completely incorrect in many areas, so the case was a cast off. Rather than throw it out, I decided to make a Bakewell tart as it always puts a smile on my face. It turned out really well, especially with some custard!
The recipe for this delicious tart you will find over here. As mentioned above, the original recipe appeared to have never have been tested. I reduced the amount of chocolate, along with the amount of milk. I am very happy with how it turned out, especially with some vanilla ice cream and raspberry coulis. This is somewhat similar to the salted caramel and chocolate tart that I made a while ago; I have to revisit that recipe and take more pictures.
