Social media posting schedule
The post will try and break down my social media posting schedule. Hopefully, it will also clarify a few things for myself as I get a bit lost sometimes! I made a post earlier about posting on social media, but this is slightly more specific. Recently, I installed an app on my phone called IFTTT : If This Then That. It is an app for automating tasks – it is currently setup to repost my Instagram posts onto Twitter. The issue is I that need to remember to not use the native Instagram repost option to stop a double post!
Instagram – recipe links and finished photographed bakes – whether made with a recipe posted or not. I will only post finished and properly photographed food here, although I will try and do ‘behind the scenes’ stories. This will mean I can have a nicely curated page looking cohesive in some form or other, what that will be is up in the air currently!
Twitter – links to recipes, day to day bakes, links from Instagram for finished food which doesn’t have a recipe. I will also post links to finished blog posts here! Twitter is less visual, so I can afford to more day to day stuff, including behind the scenes and impromptu stuff.
Facebook – links to recipes and blog posts and links from Instagram. I will also try and run any competitions here if I ever get to that point! Currently, I use Facebook a lot less than I used to and is something I need to try and improve on.
Pinterest – I post links to recipes here and currently not much else! I need to try and start using it for more stuff but fitting the time in is something I need to schedule in! It is very good for getting inspiration for food styling and also ideas for new recipes.
Yummly – I am currently linking my recipes into Yummly, although I am not currently seeing anything actually uploaded yet! It could be an issue with the format that is used, but it is something I need to try and hammer out in the next week or so. However, it is a good site for sharing recipes, so it is something I shall be sticking with, at least for the time being.
Stumbleupon – I like all of my own recipes and posts so that at least they appear on that site. Whether or not they gain any traction there is up for debate however.
I am uploading links to completed recipes currently to FoodGawker. There is no guarantee that they will be accepted as there is a certain quality of image that must be attained. Since I have started to try and get better pictures, my success rate has increased. The main issue I have is that Lightroom exports to Photoshop in PhotoRGB and I forget to change the colour profile! Unfortunately, Foodgawker doesn’t support that format, and a couple of times the images were accepted, but appeared washed out. Thankfully, the kind people were able to swap the correct image in, once I had changed the profile to sRGB!
Hopefully this social media posting schedule will help clarify a few things and as long as I can stick what I set out things should be ok. My YouTube channel is currently unused, I just wanted the option for doing occasional how-to or baking videos. I haven’t listed it here as there is currently not a huge point in advertising an empty channel! Am I missing anything? What sites do you use for sharing your recipes and blog posts?
