Baking plans for 2018
My baking plans for 2018 are not particularly wild at the moment although it will no doubt change over the year. I have two solid plans for the coming year, one of which will definitely being on for more than this year. The other, I would like to continue for much longer, but will ultimately come down to demand. The other thing is rather wide reaching, but general improvements all around!
My main concern this year is to improve my presentation and layout of the tarts and pastries I bake. The items I have baked recently taste great but I hadn’t been too concerned about how they looked. This might be fine for home cooking, but I need to improve the presentation. I will buy a book on decoration and also start going through a lot more YouTube videos and take more interest in Instagram and Pinterest.
English county baking
I am writing up a spreadsheet based on the counties of England and baked recipes from each of them. The plan is to bake three or four from each county, every month. I have merged the Yorkshire counties into one, and East and West Sussex. These counties come at the end of the list pretty much, so if things change I can divide them back to how they should be. I am doing this because tracking down recipes from a specific county is rather hard. Quite often you will see a recipe listed as from Yorkshire or Sussex with no specificity.
My list currently stands at 38 counties and I have three or four recipes at least per county. As I said, I will be doing three a month, so I have time to track down more specific recipes for those counties if required. 38 counties gives me just over three years of recipes to work through! I will be starting this in February
I am also going to start making granola and probably muesli as well this year. I have started looking at various recipes and trying to work out a few basic blends that I want to make. Along with this, I am looking at various types of packaging and printing options. I purchased another domain that I will be selling through, once it has been set up. This domain will be purely for recipe development!
